People with concerns over plans for 3,000 new homes have been reassured they will be listened to.

Telford and Wrekin Council is setting out a framework for development in the area, with a large number of the potential sites identified in the north of the area.

People have said they worry about the impact on traffic and the loss of rural landscape.

Deputy leader Richard Overton said all opinions would be taken into account.

The development plan suggests the bulk of new homes should be built near Shawbirch, Leegomery, Donnington and Muxton.

Mr Overton said the southern half of the patch had already seen a lot of house-building and the council had to consider where land was becoming available.

He said it was also important to meet government targets and to provide homes for people who wanted their families to continue living locally.

Richard Overton said consultation on the plans had gone "really well"

Some attendees at a consultation event in Leegomery told the BBC they were worried about the impact on wildlife, traffic and views of the countryside.

One man said the rural appearance of the area was being lost and communities quietly "absorbed into Telford".

Mr Overton said consultation meetings across the area had gone "really well", with more than 4,500 people also viewing the plans online.

He said the council was trying to "get as many views into the consultation as possible" and accepted some people would feel the impact of new homes being built.

The timescale for consultation had been extended he said and he promised "all views could make a difference".
