Cosma Casting UK has submitted plans to expand its Telford factory

Sixty-two new jobs are set to be created as part of an aluminium casting foundry's expansion plans.

Cosma Casting UK wants to increase the size of its factory in Telford by adding a rear extension.

It operates 24 hours a day from its Telford Business Park premises - employing about 230 people.

The expansion plans have been recommended for approval by Telford & Wrekin Council, and go before councillors on Wednesday.

"Their end product is that of high-quality alloy castings for the automotive industry," a report said.

"The foundry has been operational for many years without impacts on neighbouring properties and it is anticipated that the extension will continue to operate under the same procedures."

The proposed extension would house two new die-casting units to support manufacturing of additional product lines.

A new gatehouse building is proposed and car parking expanded from 229 to 274 spaces.

No public representations have been made and Hollinswood & Randlay Parish Council has voiced its support for the development.
