A developer has withdrawn plans for an estate of 30 affordable homes after wildlife concerns were raised.

Keon Homes submitted the plans last year for houses on land off Baptist Avenue in Telford.

But a report by Telford and Wrekin Council's ecology officer said the impact would be a "significant biodiversity loss".

The previously-developed site contained a car park and workshops until 2020, but had since become overgrown.

In the application, Keon Homes said there would have been a mix of properties with between one and four bedrooms.

The developer also promised to plant trees and hedgerows around the site.

But the ecology officer said in his report: "This scale of biodiversity loss is on the whole unacceptable, especially where no compensation has been detailed."

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
