Musgrove Park Hospital makes film for cancer patients

A Somerset hospital has produced a film to send to cancer patients giving them an overview of what to expect before they check in for treatment.

Staff at the Beacon Centre in Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital appear in the film called "A Patient's Journey".

The centre, which opened in 2009, specialises in radiotherapy, and the film highlights the treatment process.

Manager Babette Fuller said the DVD was made to help reduce patient anxiety.

"It gives them an insight into what to expect and also a unique insight into some of the behind the scenes activity," she added.

The 10-minute film follows the process from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up appointments.

It includes interviews with three patients who have all had cancer and the staff who have treated them.

As well as being sent to new patients, the film can also be viewed on YouTube.
