Thousands of club and fun runners have run alongside elite athletes in the Bath Half Marathon.

The 13.1-mile (21.1km) race started and finished in Great Pulteney Street and took runners along a two-lap route straddling the River Avon.

It was won by Nicholas Kirui in a time of 1:03:13; the first woman over the line was Perendis Lekapana in 1:10:53.

Last year Ethiopian runner Tewodros Shiferaw won with a time of 63 minutes 26 seconds.

The majority of those taking part had completed the course in two-and-a-half hours.

In 2013 the event raised more than £1.5m for charity, event organisers said.

Those travelling to Bath on Sunday were being warned of traffic diversions - in particular the closure of the A431 between Penn Hill, Bath and Kelston.

Many on-street parking places have also been suspended across the city, external for the day.
