Nunney Horse Trials rider dies after fall

A horse rider has died after a fall at a horse-riding event in Somerset.

Canadian Jordan McDonald, who was based in Leicestershire, was taking part in the Nunney International Horse Trials.

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed it had been called to the incident at 13:38 BST on Saturday to find Mr McDonald unconscious.

A spokesman said he had suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital, but he could not be revived.

In a statement, British Eventing confirmed the 30-year-old was involved in a fatal accident just before 13:30 BST.

"Jordan's horse, Only Me, a seven-year-old gelding, was not injured," it added.

BE said the Canadian rider had been based in Leicestershire, and married wife Shandiss a year ago.

"No further details are available at present," the statement said.

A spokesman for Nunney Horse Trials said that trials were initially suspended but resumed on Sunday.
