A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a fall at a horse riding event in Gloucestershire.

The victim, believed to be in her 20s, had been taking part in a cross country event at the Hartpury Horse Trials on Saturday morning.

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a patient had been taken to Frenchay Hospital by Wiltshire air ambulance.

He added it followed reports a woman had been injured at the equine school.

The extent of the woman's injuries are not known at the moment.

The Hartpury International Horse Trials is a four-day event held at Hartpury College, just to the north of Gloucester.

It specialises in agricultural, equine, animal and land, and sports studies.
