Turnip Prize: Ewe Kip wins Somerset bad art contest

The winner of the Somerset-based Turnip Prize, a spoof of the Turner Prize contemporary art awards, has been announced as Drunken Shepherd for her work entitled Ewe Kip. Organiser Trevor Prideaux said: "I am delighted with the lack of effort taken to create the work."
This year's competition received 69 entries of deliberately "bad art" which were whittled down to six finalists. Another entry in the final was Pensive - a pen and sieve - by Leafy.
Trees R Green also made the final with the entry Ginger Nut - a walnut with a ginger hair piece.
And Mike Atkinson submitted Breast in Plant into the competition - breasts embedded in a plant. Mr Prideaux said: "It never surprises me the amount of rubbish we get, but this year we'll probably need an extra skip to get rid of it all."
Finalist Abby's Gogglebox comprised an empty box of swimming goggles. Mr Prideaux added that among the "usual rubbish", they had also received entries from Italy and Germany which had failed to make it into the final as "they'd involved too much effort".
Aunt Sponge entered the competition with a Barbie doll with shrimps glued on it entitled Stick another Shrimp on the Barbie. The presentation of the award, a turnip mounted on a six-inch nail, took place at The New Inn in Wedmore, Somerset.
