Wells woman running three miles every day to raise awareness of baby loss

A woman is running three miles a day through October to raise awareness about baby loss in pregnancy.
Lou Alldis, from Wells, has experienced three miscarriages and is raising money for maternity and pregnancy charity Tommy's.
She had two miscarriages before giving birth to son Lennie in May 2022 but suffered a third recently.
"It's a subject that needs talking about, as difficult as it can be," Ms Alldis said.
"Three is a significant number because three is the number of miscarriages that my partner and I have experienced," she told BBC Radio Somerset.
"Plus, historically, NHS guidelines were that you had to have had three miscarriages before you were eligible for any support.
"Tommy's have been campaigning for years to get those numbers changed," added Ms Alldis.
She said that another reason for taking on the challenge was to "find me again".
"After the miscarriages and also, thankfully, having a healthy son in between, you kind of lose yourself a little bit.
"You get lost in grief and trauma and then being a new parent as well, which is wonderful but hard," she said.
'I'm feeling good'
So far, Ms Alldis has run 51 miles over 17 days and says it has helped her feel more positive.
"I'm feeling really good. I've felt the best I have done in a long time, which is wonderful," she added.
Ms Alldis said she wanted to fundraise for Tommy's so that there was more support available for other parents in the same situation.
