Loaded car transporter leaves M4 and overturns near Bath

A car transporter loaded with cars crashed into a field next to the M4.

The incident happened at around 10:00 GMT near to J18 of the eastbound carriageway, and one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The M4 was initially blocked to allow emergency services access to the scene, lane closures remained in place for several hours.

National Highways in the South West said the motorway was fully reopened just after 15:30 GMT.

On X, formerly known as twitter, National Highways said the closures were "to allow recovery to take place safely".
