Bath stabbing: Boy, 17, arrested for attempted murder after two men injured

A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were stabbed near a park.

The incident happened in the Royal Avenue and Queen's Parade area of Bath shortly after 21:00 GMT on Sunday.

An 18-year-old man remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, while a 20-year-old man sustained injuries to his face and arm.

Det Insp Hannah Marsh said incidents like this are uncommon in Bath and it is likely to cause people alarm.

A police cordon has been put in place through Victoria Park, a well-known tourist spot, not far from No.1 Royal Crescent where scenes from Bridgerton were filmed.

Det Insp Marsh said that there would be "a highly visible police presence in the area" while they carry out enquiries, including reviewing CCTV.

"We've already identified a number of people we're interested in speaking to about this incident but we're also keen on hearing from anyone who witnessed it or who has information which could help us," Det Insp Marsh said.

Neighbourhood police officers will be patrolling the area to provide reassurance to the community.

The 18 year-old man sustained injuries to his chest and leg and is being treated in Southmead Hospital, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The 20-year-old man was taken to Royal United Hospitals Bath where he was treated before being discharged.

The 17-year-old boy arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.
