A woman in her 20s is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed.

Police officers were called to Dransfield Way, near Coronation Avenue, in Bath, at about 16:20 GMT on Monday.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody. The woman's family are being supported.

Avon and Somerset Police said it is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

It added that over the coming days there will be an increased police presence and the neighbourhood policing team will be carrying out high-visibility reassurance patrols in the area.
