A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Avon and Somerset Police said the sex attack happened between 03:00 and 05:00 BST on 25 March in an alleyway off North Street in Weston-super-Mare.

The offender is described by police as a man wearing a black tracksuit. Now officers are asking for help to trace two men who might have key information.

Police said they were treating it as an isolated case and the arrested man had since been released on bail.

The two men police wish to speak to are believed to have been in the area between 04:17 and 04:32.

One of the men was wearing a large Parker-style coat with the hood worn up, with skinny jeans and trainers.

'A terrifying incident'

Investigating officer DC Amanda Johnson said: "This was a terrifying incident and we're continuing to support the victim, who was incredibly brave in coming forward and reporting this to us.

"Our investigation is well under way, and we believe these two men may have information which could be key.

"Whilst we appreciate this will cause anxiety in the community, we would like to provide reassurance that this is believed to be an isolated incident."

Anyone who knows the two men or who has information likely to help the investigation is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police.
