Work has started on a £4.4m scheme upgrade two wards at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.
The first phase of the project, due to be completed in November, will provide an "inpatients and day case suite" on the oncology/haematology ward.
The suite will comprise eight single rooms, to improve patient privacy, a two-bed room and two four-bed bays.
The second phase will see the refurbishment of the rheumatology ward allowing more patients to be treated.
Oncology ward manager Debbie Tansley said: "The new daycase facility will promote patient privacy and dignity, whilst also encouraging a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for patients.
"The staff are extremely excited with regards to the new build.
"It will provide patients with a modern and relaxed environment with up-to-date facilities, and also provide a garden area for patients , a luxury we do not currently have."
