Man dies in 'incident' at Crow Edge recycling plant

A worker has died after an "incident" at a recycling plant near Penistone.

The man died while working at R Plevin and Sons' Hazelhead waste wood recovery site, near Crow Edge, on Monday.

A company spokesman said it was co-operating with a Health & Safety Executive investigation but was unable to provide further details.

Last month firefighters spent 12 days tackling a major blaze at the site which broke out on June 2 and was visible from 17 miles (27km) away.

The spokesman added: "The health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance, and we are co-operating fully with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances around this incident.

"We will provide further information as it becomes available."
