A student has denied carrying a folded knife near Buckingham Palace.
Hang Zhang, 25, of Hawley Street, Sheffield, was found at the main gate of the palace in London on 12 August.
He pleaded not guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place when he appeared at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court via video-link.
The Chinese national, who was sectioned under the Mental Health Act, opted for a trial at a magistrates' court. The date is yet to be fixed.
Mr Zhang, who is a student at Sheffield University, is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on 26 October.
