A man who died when his car crashed into a tree in South Yorkshire has been described as "dearly loved" by his family.

Warren Powell, 39, died at the scene of the crash on the Great North Road in Bawtry at about 08:00 GMT on Saturday.

His family said he would be "sorely missed" and his death would leave "an immeasurable void in all our lives".

South Yorkshire Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or who had footage of the car to contact officers.

Mr Powell, from Branton near Doncaster, was travelling in a black Mercedes from Bawtry Golf Club towards the Mount Pleasant Hotel when his car left the road at a junction and struck a tree, police said.

His family said: "Warren was a dearly loved father, son, brother and uncle who we have lost in tragic circumstances.

"He was loved by all he met and by those who knew him, and he lit up any room."
