Revised Sheffield flats plan submitted after safety concerns

A revised plan for converting 1980s-built offices into flats in a city has been submitted after safety concerns were previously raised.

Seven Property Lettings wants to create 23 apartments on the Eastern Avenue site in Sheffield.

Concerns were previously raised about highway and pedestrian safety, space and a lack of details about bins.

These issues, which led to the 2022 application being rejected, have been addressed, the developer said.

The offices, unoccupied since 2016, are unchanged in appearance sine the mid-1990s.

Planners said there were concerns about a lack of adequate natural light and the amount of space in some of the proposed flats.

There were also concerns about highway and pedestrian safety and a lack of details about bins and storage.

The proposal for a change of use, submitted by Seven Property Lettings Ltd, is to create 23 one-bedroom flats with internal floorspaces ranging from 398 sq ft (37sqm) to 645 sq ft (60sqm).

The flats are to be laid out over three floors and are to be served by a total of 20 parking spaces, including one disabled space, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

A decision about the scheme is expected to be made by 13 February.
