Sheffield: Consultation over Rose Garden Cafe's future launched

A public consultation over the future of a park cafe has been launched ahead of planned restoration work.
The Rose Garden Cafe in Sheffield's Graves Park was at risk of demolition after it closed due to structural concerns in July 2022.
Following a 15-month campaign, councillors agreed to renovate the landmark cafe in October last year.
The public is being now invited to share their views on the design and use of the building
A series of events are planned on the field next to the cafe on 30 and 31 March and 13 April to encourage people to take part in the public consultation, which runs until 19 April.
Sheffield City Council is also considering a change of lease for the cafe, which was partly reopened in December 2022, the Local Democracy Service reports.
On Thursday, the council's charity trustee sub-committee will discuss granting a tenancy at will to Julie Collins, a member of the Rose Garden Cafe campaign, who also runs the Norfolk Park cafe.
Ms Collins had been running the Rose Garden cafe on behalf of catering company BrewKitchen, which decided that it no longer fits with their overall business aims.
According to the council, specialist heritage structural engineers are currently investigating the problems which led to the cafe's sudden closure back in 2022.
