Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a waste recycling centre in Barnsley.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) said crews had been at the scene in Grange Lane since around 18:30 BST on Friday.

At its height about 30 firefighters were in attendance after around 80 tonnes of used mattresses caught fire.

A SYFR spokesperson said Grange Lane remained closed and drivers should "not attempt to travel down it". The cause is not thought to be suspicious.

"The smoke from the fire has reduced considerably, but we still expect to be on the scene most of today," the spokesperson added.
