Man taken to hospital after Sheffield hit-and-run crash

A man has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to Sheaf Street at about 10:20 BST on Thursday after a pedestrian was struck by a van near to the railway station.

South Yorkshire Police said the driver of the van did not stop at the scene.

A 51-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit, driving without due care and attention and leaving the scene of a road traffic collision.
