Spitfire-shaped cafe plan approved for Mitchell theatre

The theatre was named in honour of the city's spitfire designer Reginald Mitchell
A glass-fronted cafe built in the shape of a Spitfire wing is to be added to a Staffordshire theatre.
Hanley's Mitchell Memorial Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent, named after the WWII plane's designer, has undergone a multi-million pound renovation.
The work came in under its £4m budget and the remaining money will be spent on a cafe and balcony extension.
Permission was granted for the cafe on 30 July and the council said it may pedestrianise the theatre area too.
The front extension was inspired by the Spitfire designed by Reginald Mitchell, who was born in the city, theatre managers said.
Refurbishment work started on the theatre in October and includes a rear extension with new dressing rooms, a dance studio, workshop and toilets.
The front extension will have a curved wing roof that covers a glass curved wall extension to the café, looking out over the city.
