Stoke council's city bus route changes go on show

New one-way streets, bus gate controls and a public square for outdoor events could all be created in Stoke city centre under plans by the council.

The proposals by Stoke-on-Trent City Council are being put forward as part of the changes to the city centre ahead of a new bus station being built.

The Labour controlled authority said work could start early this year.

Councillor Ruth Rosenau said: "The new bus station means that we must provide a decent bus network to support it."

The new bus station, off John Street, has been described by the city council as a "landmark" and is due to open in the autumn.

A three-day exhibition of the bus route changes is being held at the East West Centre Offices in Charles Street from Tuesday.
