Restoration work costing more than £300,000 is to be carried out on canals in Staffordshire.

The Canal and River Trust will repair lock gates at Bagnall Lock in Alrewas and at Branston Lock near Burton-upon-Trent over the next three months.

Repair work will be done on 200-year-old brickwork to stop leaks at Trentham, Etruria and Bedford Street.

The Trust said it was spending a total of £45m to restore 2,000 miles of canals across the country.
