Work on the A34 is nearing completion, the council says

A main road is being closed for 12 nights to complete work on a new roundabout junction.

The A34 to the north of Stafford will be shut overnight from Sunday.

The work involves road surfacing, line marking and traffic signals installation, said Staffordshire County Council.

A new roundabout has been built on the A34 to provide access to a new Pets At Home warehouse, which is creating hundreds of jobs.

The overnight road closures between 8pm and 6am were needed to allow the work to be completed safely, said the council.

The A34 will be closed between the A51 Aston roundabout and A513 Redhill roundabout, apart from the nights of Saturday October 21 and Sunday October 22.

There would be a signed diversion in place, added the council, and access to homes and businesses would be maintained at all times.
