Cocker spaniel dies in suspected Bully XL attack in Tamworth

The dog attack in Tamworth left a cocker spaniel dead and its owner injured

A cocker spaniel was killed and its owner injured in an attack by a suspected Bully XL, police said.

A 22-year-old man was arrested after the attack, which happened as the injured man walked his dog in Castle Grounds, Tamworth, Staffordshire.

The spaniel was taken to a vet but later died. The owner was bitten but not seriously hurt.

The arrested man was held on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury on 5 November.

He has since been released on conditional police bail. The dog has been seized and put in secure accommodation.

Police also confirmed their investigation was still under way and asked witnesses to get in touch.
