A man was killed when he was hit by a lorry as he crossed a road.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle on Stone Road, in Stoke-on-Trent on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the road, at about 15:15 GMT, near the Trentham Estate. Despite their best efforts to save him, the victim died at the scene.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information that may help investigators is urged to get in touch with police.

An air ambulance was one of a number of medical crews sent to the scene, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"The man was given advanced trauma care but unfortunately, nothing more could be done to save him," the service added.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and will be offered support, said Staffordshire Police.
