Inquiries are continuing into the death of a man in Stafford.

Police were called to Oberton Gardens at 21:15 GMT on Tuesday following concerns for a man who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.

A cordon was still in place on Friday. Det Insp Ian Fitzgerald said officers understood the concern the incident caused.

"I'd like to reiterate that our investigation is very much ongoing and I'd ask people not to speculate," he said.

"We have spoken to a number of people as part of this investigation and are continuing to carry out enquiries to find out more about what happened."
