In pictures: Suffolk at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2011
The press, royalty and invited guests were given a preview of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2011 on Monday - with plenty of Suffolk exhibits on show, including the Potash Nursery.
Potash Nursery, based in Bacton near Stowmarket, was awarded a silver gilt for its vast range of fuchsias.
A celebration of Basildon Bond's stationery, produced in Bury St Edmunds, earned a bronze award in the Artisan Garden category.
The brief was to "use natural, sustainably resourced materials in an artistic manner". The Basildon Bond garden showed the lifecycle of paper, from the role of water in manufacturing to a post box providing an exit point.
Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes visited the Basildon Bond garden.
Ballet student Florence Barker poses next to her bronze representation, sculpted by Halesworth's Brian Alabaster. The sculpture is being sold to aid Florence's tuition fees.
Harveys Garden Plants also won a silver gilt. The nursery, based in Thurston near Bury St Edmunds, displayed rare shade and woodland plants.
Harveys Garden Plants' exhibit in the Great Pavilion featured trilliums, epimediums, maianthemum and meconopsis species.
Rob Dunger and Lesley Dolphin broadcast live from Chelsea. They were joined by Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen and husband Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
Another surprise Suffolk representative could be seen at the Italian Terrace.
Louise Drayton and Liz Goodrich received a certificate of merit at the 2010 show for "the outstanding presentation of their stand".
