The sports village hosted about a dozen sports. In the boxing tent, Ipswich ABC's Connor Cuffe shadow-boxed with Paul Magande.

'Marcus Flavonius' was the name of a real Roman centurion who lived in Colchester around 50 AD. Dwayne, Chester and Erin Black from Ipswich were persuaded that a visit to Colchester Castle might be in order.

Otley College arboriculture students showed off their skills at climbing trees.
Pet dogs were not allowed at the Suffolk Show this year - a decision which provoked criticism and this banner on Felixstowe Road outside Trinity Park. The ban did not seem to affect visitor numbers on the first day of the 2011 show.
