Luke Durbin inquiry: New CCTV footage

The case of missing Suffolk teenager Luke Durbin is to feature on national television with previously unseen CCTV footage.

The 19-year-old vanished in the early hours of 12 May 2006, following a night out in Ipswich.

The Tonight programme on ITV1 on Thursday will feature footage of Mr Durbin speaking to a taxi driver in Cardinal Park at about midnight.

His mother, Nikki Durbin, has worked to keep his case in the media spotlight.

She reported her son missing on 13 May 2006. He was last seen near Ipswich bus station at 04:00 BST the previous day.

In November 2010, detectives from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team reviewed the sequence of events, the police inquiry and followed new lines of investigation.

Det Ch Insp John Brocklebank said: "We are determined to find out what has happened to Luke.

"We hope that any publicity we receive will keep the inquiry at the forefront of people's mind and with the CCTV footage, trigger someone's memory from that night."

Mr Durbin's friend and the taxi driver seen on footage have been identified and spoken to but police hope someone else may come forward with information after seeing the video clip.

"I am convinced someone locally knows what has happened to Luke," added Det Ch Insp Brocklebank.

"A dedicated team of officers are working tirelessly on this case but it could take just one piece of information to make a breakthrough and give Luke's family the answers they so desperately want and need."
