Ipswich Academy given permission for new building

Ipswich Academy has been given permission to build a new school next to Gainsborough Sports Centre.

The academy, which was previously Holywells High, was granted planning permission by Suffolk County Council.

The new school should be open by September 2013.

John Baumber, chief executive of sponsor the Learning Schools Trust, said: "It's a really important step for us - we hope to put our first spade into the ground in the summer."
