Latitude Festival: Portishead, alt-J and Noel Gallagher to headline

Portishead, alt-J and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have been named as the headline acts for this year's Latitude Festival.

The Suffolk festival, which celebrates its 10th year, takes place at Henham Park, near Southwold on 16-19 July.

Manic Street Preachers, James Blake, Laura Marling, Jason Manford and Adam Hills and also performing.

Festival goers will also have the chance to relax in hot tubs and swim in the lake for the first time.

Melvin Benn, founder of Latitude and head of Festival Republic, said the new Solas area would offer a "holistic spa experience by day and a new late night party area to discover after sunset".

The festival had a capacity of 15,000 in 2006 but now attracts more than 35,000 people a day

Geoff Barrow, whose band Portishead will make their debut performance at the festival as Saturday's headliners, said he enjoyed previous visits as a punter.

"I think the effort they put into their whole programming - music, comedy and film - is what makes it a great festival to be part of," he said.

Noel Gallagher said he had not been to the festival but was "really looking forward" to his band's appearance on the Sunday night.

BBC 6 Music is again lending its name to the second music stage, which will be headlined by Jon Hopkins, The Vaccines and SBTRKT.

Elsewhere, Chilly Gonzales will join the Kaiser Quartett for a performance on the Waterfront Stage, and there will also be events held by Sadler's Wells and the National Portrait Gallery.

BBC Introducing in Suffolk will once again give three local bands the chance to perform on the Lake Stage, which is curated by DJ Huw Stephens.
