Traffic was queuing on the A14 in Felixstowe
The A14 has reopened after it was closed in both directions at Felixstowe in Suffolk after a diesel spillage.
The Port of Felixstowe Road was shut between the Howlett Way and Dockspur roundabouts for more than 12 hours.
Two hundred litres of diesel was cleared by contractors with Suffolk Police also at the scene.
Traffic was diverted on a route through the town, with motorists stuck in long queues of traffic.
Highways England said the road reopened at 02:30 BST on Friday.
It said resurfacing was not needed but it would continue to monitor the situation.
