People have shared their delight at a mural of singer Ed Sheeran appearing in a shopping centre.

The painting at Sailmakers in Ipswich depicts the Suffolk musician performing, alongside lyrics to his 2014 track Thinking Out Loud.

It was commissioned by the centre's owners to commemorate his impromptu gig outside the town hall in 2022.

Shopper Sam Smith said: "It's good to have some recognition of where he's from."

The 20 x 13ft (6 x 4m) mural was created by graffiti artist Joe Miles.

Local resident Mia Bond said: "It's really good. It's good to have someone that represents the town."

Shopper Lorraine Radcliffe said: "People are proud of Ed and that's quite right."

Arran Bailey, managing director of ALB Group, which owns the shopping centre, said: "As Ed is a celebrated hometown boy who still has a house in Suffolk, what better way to acknowledge his talents and the recognition he gives the local area than with a mural in the heart of the town."

Mr Miles worked through the night to complete the artwork, which was unveiled on Friday morning.
