Barman injured in catapult attack in Redhill

A barman was injured on his way home from work in Surrey when he was hit by an object believed to have been fired from a catapult.

The 21-year-old suffered a grazed arm in the attack which happened in Redhill shortly before midnight on Thursday.

The victim was walking in Linkfield Lane when he heard a clicking noise before feeling a sharp pain in his arm.

Police do not believe the incident is linked to a number of catapult attacks in Tandridge.

Pc Doug Stott, of Surrey Police, said: "Although this is the first time something like this has happened in Redhill we are mindful of a number of similar incidents in Tandridge but do not believe they are connected.

"The victim was not seriously injured but it is hard to believe someone would behave in such an immature and moronic way by firing a catapult at another person.

"We do not view this kind of assault as a trivial matter and we will not hesitate to take robust action against those responsible."
