Canal cycle bridge plans in Woking unveiled

Plans for a cycle and pedestrian canal bridge in Woking have been unveiled.
If planning permission is granted, the structure would span the Basingstoke Canal alongside the existing Hermitage Bridge for motorists.
The plan has been put forward by Cycle Woking, a partnership between Surrey and Woking councils to promote two-wheeled transport.
It said the bridge would provide a safe crossing point for pedestrians and strengthen the cycle network.
Paul Fishwick, Cycle Woking's programme manager, said the bridge could be in place by next summer.
Residents can view the plans at Brookwood Country Park Pavilion from 1400 to 1900 BST on Tuesday.
