Extra street cleaning cash for Waverley's autumn leaves
- Published
Extra street cleaning is being paid for in part of Surrey in a move to tackle autumn leaves.
Waverley council said additional street cleaning began on Monday and an extra £73,000 had been allocated to street cleaning over autumn and winter.
Councillor Bryn Morgan said it was to prevent leaves blocking drains which could lead to flooding during rainfall.
Six leaf sweeping machines are being used on roads either fortnightly or monthly, depending on conditions.
