Woman denies murdering husband at Surrey home

A woman has denied murdering her estranged husband who was found bludgeoned to death at his Surrey home.

The body of retired businessman Richard Challen, 61, was found in Claygate, near Esher, on 15 August.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Challen died of "severe blunt force trauma to the head".

Sally Challen, 56, pleaded not guilty to murder, in a hearing at Guildford Crown Court. A trial has been set to start on 3 May.

Mrs Challen, an office manager from Claygate, has been remanded in custody.

Mr Challen, who was the retired owner of a car dealership in Richmond, south-west London, lived alone at his property on Ruxley Ridge.
