Service personnel have marched through Reigate to mark UK Armed Forces Day.

About 200 soldiers from The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment marched down Castlefield Road, along the High Street and into Park Lane.

The procession headed to Priory Park, where a community festival is taking place.

Councillor Brian Stead, the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, said he wanted to thank the regiment for the "sacrifices they and their families have made".

The regiment, which recently returned from Afghanistan, are later due to attend a reception at Reigate Priory Junior School.

The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment is the county regiment of Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Middlesex, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

The regiment has three battalions - two regular and one territorial - and members of all three battalions have served on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Street parties and parades are also taking place throughout the UK. The official host city this year is Edinburgh.
