Seven more Surrey police stations to be put up for sale

Seven more police stations in Surrey will be put up for sale following a police authority meeting.

Surrey Police recommended the marketing of East Molsey, Walton, Cranleigh, Dorking and Chertsey, alongside already approved Epsom and Esher stations.

The proposal was agreed at a meeting of the Surrey Police Authority, in Esher, on 8 September.

Offers have been made on six stations that were put on the market in April and May.

According to Surrey Police, the sale of the stations is to help cut costs to ensure an extra 200 front line officers in the county.

Police previously stressed that no station would be sold until a suitable alternative location has been identified.

Sales contracts have been drawn up after offers were made for Ripley, Sunbury, Frimley, Ash, Lingfield and Byfleet police stations, which were put on the market
