A new multi-million pound entertainment venue in Surrey has been officially opened by the Duke of Kent.

G Live, in Guildford, which hosts music, comedy and family shows, opened in the autumn but the duke unveiled a plaque to mark its official launch.

The £26m venue has a 1,700-capacity auditorium, a 150-capacity studio theatre and conference rooms.

Guildford mayor, Councillor Terence Patrick, said the building was a venue for the 21st Century.

Since its opening in September, the venue has already had more than 35,000 visitors and 14 sell-out shows, Guildford council said.
