Plans to redevelop a major station in Surrey by adding a supermarket and 150 flats have been submitted for approval.
The redevelopment of Redhill station would also include a new ticket hall and multi-storey car park.
The planning application has been submitted by Solum Regeneration, which is a joint venture between by Network Rail and Kier Property, to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.
The developers hope to start work on the £40m project in early 2014.
Tim Robinson, who is a route managing director for Network Rail, said stations needed investment as more people are travelling by train.
"This innovative plan for the redevelopment of Redhill station will give passengers better access, improved station facilities and better links with the rest of the town centre," he said.
