Sir Winston Churchill lookalike Stan Streather was in character as the World War Two prime minister at a display of military vehicles in Surrey.

The Defenders of the Motherland living history group recreated a Russian checkpoint at the Military Vehicles Day at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge.

More than 80 vehicles from across the decades, including armoured cars and troop carriers, were at the Weybridge motor and aviation museum.

Many vehicles formed static displays, while others were tested on the 4x4 course at neighbouring Mercedes-Benz world.

David Saffrey, of the Defenders of the Motherland living history group, was among those re-enacting the past.

Jason Littleford portrays a member of the German Home Guard. A two-minute silence and bugle call were held at 11:00 GMT as the event got under way.

The humour of World War Two as well as the serious side of conflict was captured by Sunday's displays.
