Surrey thermal imaging scheme to help with energy cost
- Published
A thermal imaging project has been launched to help people in Surrey reduce their energy bills.
A group of 50 residents has been trained to conduct free in-person energy surveys for householders.
The thermal cameras help people see where they are losing heat from their homes. The project can provide remedial measures for free.
It aims to improve the thermal comfort of homes, reduce the chance of damp and mould and lower emissions.
The Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) project is a partnership between the county council and community groups, based in Guildford, Redhill and Reigate.
Ben McCallan, from the charity Zero Carbon Guildford, helps coordinate the project.
He said: "We want to help residents lower their bills and keep their homes cosy and comfortable - which is so important at the moment with the weather so cold - and help signpost them funding for energy efficient measures."
