Sponsored wooden planks are to be sold as part of a fundraising effort towards rebuilding Hastings Pier, which was destroyed by fire last year.

Each plank will bear a plaque with the name of its sponsor and will be in a visible deck area on the pier.

The Hastings Pier and White Rock Trust said money raised would match funding from larger grants from organisations such as the Heritage Lottery Fund.

It recently unveiled the architects firm which will design a new look pier.

Sponsors will have to pledge at least £50 for a plank on the East Sussex pier.
