East Sussex County Council freezes council tax share

East Sussex County Council has frozen its share of the council tax for the second consecutive year.

The deputy leader of the Conservative-controlled county council said it had taken up the "government's offer" to freeze its part of the bill.

"We know that household budgets are extremely tight and every pound counts," Keith Glazier said.

The average Band D council tax bill for county council services for 2012-13 will remain at £1,158.30.

"We have had to economise and find some £19m of savings to balance the books but we are protecting our core priorities," Mr Glazier added.

The overall council tax for East Sussex residents is made up of the county council's share, as well as precepts for the police and fire services and district and borough councils.
