'We need a second runway at Gatwick,' says airport boss

The chief executive of Gatwick Airport has said he will continue to push for a second runway, whatever the government's decision on expanding airport capacity in the South East.

Stewart Wingate said even if ministers favoured a new runway at Heathrow, his team would continue to plan for another one in West Sussex.

A decision over where to site a new runway is due to be taken "shortly", according to Transport Secretary Chris Grayling.
