Brighton baby death: Girl's mother charged

Verphy Kudi is accused of causing her daughter's death

A teenage mother has been charged with killing her baby daughter in Brighton.

Verphy Kudi, 18, of no fixed address, has appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court charged with the manslaughter of one-year-old Asiah.

Sussex Police say Asiah was found at an address in Islingword Road on 11 December 2019 and taken to the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Ms Kudi is next due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 16 November.
