Shoreham: Man found dead on boat after mayday call

A man has been found dead on board a boat off the coast of West Sussex after a mayday call.

Sussex Police were notified by coastguard of a mayday call being received from a vessel at about 01:40 BST.

A man was confirmed to have died on the boat, which was subsequently brought into Shoreham, a police spokesperson said.

No suspicious circumstances were identified by police.

The vessel was met in Shoreham by police officers and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB).

Police said officers are supporting an investigation by MAIB.

An MAIB spokesperson said: "The MAIB has deployed a team of investigators to conduct a preliminary assessment."
